Sterling National Bank - Average 30 minute wait time to talk to a Customer Service Rep
I realize things are slow right now because of the Coronavirus pandemic. But ever since Sterling took over Astoria Bank, you have to wait on hold an average of 30 minutes to talk to a representative.
I only call them when I can't do something with their buggy automated systems, including online and secure email. At first, I thought it was because of all the calls necessary due to migration from Astoria's financial systems to Sterling's systems. But the long wait times continued right up to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Apparently 30 minutes is their target waiting hold time.
If this is the case they are staffing in such a way as to *** people off to see if they figure it out by themselves by using their automated systems, or they want to get 100% shift time productivity out of their representatives at the expense of their customers. In other words, they never want to have any of their employees sitting around doing nothing.
User's recommendation: Note this is you are planning to move your business to Sterling.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.
Sterling National Bank Cons: Poor customer service.
