In customer service sometimes people have bad days. That\'s just reality.

I stand behind everything that I wrote in this complaint, it happened exactly the way that I presented, yet it\'s old and in the past.

If there is a moderator for this forum I ask that this complaint be taken down. Thank you.

Michael Madeo, an emotionally delicate and very angry individual, verbally attacked me this afternoon after visiting the branch to cash a check. Tried to cash a payroll check cut by Oliver Staffing Services but was informed that Sterling National Bank does will not honor the checks of Oliver Staffing Services. After asking to open an account with the bank Mr. Madeo (I supposed overhearing my request) rushed from his office in a confrontational manner to yell that I could not open an account only to close it!!! I have no idea where he got the part about me closing any account, when I only asked the teller what the process was to open an account. I responded to his angry confrontation that I only asked about opening an account, that's all. He then told me that I would need to deposit $100 into the account, and that I could talk to one of his bankers about it. After getting the information that I needed in order to make an informed decision about opening an account at this particular branch I told the banker that I would come back.

30 minutes later I called back up to the bank to ask for the number of Sterling's corporate offices, and when I asked if the company was publicly or privately held the young lady immediately transferred me to Mr. Madeo because she didn't understand the question. After giving me the information that I asked for he asked if there was anything that he could possibly help me with, and I told him that that was ok, that I was actually contacting his boss and that it probably wouldn't be a good idea to speak with him about my grievance. He replied, "Is this the lady that was mad because we wouldn't cash your check??? What are you going to tell him, that we wouldn't cash your check????" I told him that the check wasn't the issue, that the confrontational way in which he spoke to me and still continues to speak to me was the problem, that it was unprofessional and unnecessary. He then launched an attack against me, yelling on the phone at nearly the top of his lungs, "WHAT KIND OF PERSON WALKS IN OFF OF THE STREET TO OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH NO MONEY!!!!!" I was immediately appalled! I reminded Mr. Madeo that my initial intention was not open an account with the bank, that my business there was to cash a check drawn on the bank, but that he would not honor checks cut by Oliver Staffing Services.

He continued to berate and holler at me, threatening to call his boss before I could (a Mr.Migliorino at Sterling National Bank's corporate offices) and tell him how I came into the branch with no money to open an account and then refused to open it! He continued to yell at least 5 more minutes, and after calmly trying to remind him that the entire reason that I was complaining about him in the first place was because he was incapable of having a professional conversation without yelling, I finally I hung up. My ears couldn't take it anymore, I regret that I was ever transfered to him in the fist place (did not intend to talk to him when I called to get the contact info).

This man, Michael Madeo, is the worst! Customer Service = 0, Manners = 0, Reasonability = 0, Temper = 10, Effemininity = 10, Overly emotional which has no place in a business environment = 10. I would NEVER, EVER allow him to handle any account of mine!

You shoud check out the drunken manager they have at 500 7th avenue, Edward Nugent. He comes in reeking of booze and growling

Guest

you have credibility issues:

1. you seek out this site (I am here to defend a good man.

2. you are not a pissed off consumer since you are not even a customer (lucky for them)

3. you make libeous statements

4. for some reason I can't fathom, you felt compelled to use effemininity in your ratings. Show me the dictionary in which that word appears,

5. you talk about professionalism and courtesy and yet, see #4.offensive!

6.you have a bad day and try to ruin the career of a man who rose to his position for his talent and skill, hardly for rudeness.

If you ever find a real job*, I hope this happens to you. Karma.

Michael is a kind and generous man. He will survive this attack based on the reputation he has built.

*You may prefer to spend time reviewing ratings for Oliver Staffing. Their reputation is hardly "Sterling". pun intended.

I have only experienced courteous and professional care from Mr. Madeo.

It is hard to imagine that the man I know would behave in the manner described. The disgruntled customer's extreme reaction loses all credibility when she describes Mr.

Madeo's "effemininity" as a 10. What does that have to do with anything, except to reveal the customer's bigotry.

For the most part I can speak on Michael Madeo behalf since we've have worked together in the past and I currently have an account at Sterling National Bank. I know Michael and his family intimately and I just happen to be a BLACK women. All through the years I've worked with Michael I have know the most descent professional human being that had taught me and many of my other past collegues the drive of customer service. And with all that nuturing by Michael I happen to take that drive with me to my present employer which to be a very prestigious college in the U.S.

I believe you have some interpersonal issues that you're none dealing with, and instead your projecting your anger to the wrong people. I mean just cause you walk off the street into a bank and the customer service reps or the bank manager are following the banks protocol, they're are racist or they're verbally attacking you???!!!! Your a liar, and I don't like calling people liars but you are an exception. I always wondered to myself that how can one person just go out there and cause trouble for other people. Now I know why. They have people like you out there that when they don't get what they do what ever it takes to get attention. Join the line with the other "Tawana Brawley" ambulance chasers out there that will only get one minute of fame.

I know that Michael Madeo will continue his professionalism through out and will not let this negative bashing interrupt his home at Sterling National Bank.

This lady sounds nuts!!!I have known Michael for years, this couldn't be further from the truth!!! This lady needs to get a life.

Guest

You're right, I don't know anything about Madeo, I only know what I experienced. I don't know if in fact he is racist or not, I can only infer from what I experienced.

Just the same, you don't know what Madeo said to me or how he said it because you were not there! Very simple!

If you're upset then that says more about you then it does me. I will ignore all of your insults because I do not anger easily, but again, it says more about you then it does me.

Again, my issue is not with whatever banking policies are in place. If they have a bad relationship with Oliver Staffing Services then that is not my business, that's between Sterling and Oliver Staffing. Personally I would not hold my account with a bank who refuses to cash my checks, but then again that is not my business. I simply walked less than 50 yards to my bank, CHASE, where I simply whipped out my ATM card and deposited the check into my account.

I regret that I didn't do that in the first place.

Then again, sometimes things happen for a reason.

PS Thank you for the compliment about "eloquence". LOL Unexpected, but ok. Toodles!

You just do not know how ridiculous you sound!!! You certainly have lost any credibility at all.

Just the mere fact that you "didn't pull the race card" as you so elequently put it, shows me you you are in fact a liar. You didn't mention it at first because you know that that isn't true, and you are now grasping at straws to try and drag someones name through the mud.Aren't you? This was probably your only time being in the bank based on your comments, Michael deals with people from all races, ethnic backgrounds, nationalities and sexual orientations, I see his interactions, quite frequently, and he has never demonstrated any prejudices, how do you know what my background is? or what my friends ethnic or racial background is?

YOU DON'T!!!! for that matter, you do not even know what Mr. Madeo's background is, the therefore YOU are prejudice!!!! Michael has respect for EVERYONE I have attended several events that he has hosted at the Branch there are clients from all backgounds there, White, Black and every color in between!!

and I happen to know that the majority of his staff are Black and would be insulted your your RACIAL comments. I am not even going to respond on this any further, you need to grow up and take responsibility for yourself. You should think BEFORE you speak and get the facts first before making any assumptions, especially when your comments are potentially damaging to someones livelyhood. He has worked hard over the years I am sure, and doesn't deserve YOUR treatment of him, He was just doing his job, and I commend him for following the rules of the bank.

as a long time depositer, it makes me feel safe that my money is being managed so carefully by Sterling National Bank, and Mr. Madeo

Guest

...Also, I must add that when I spoke to Madeo's boss, Mr. Migliorino (Sterling National Bank corporate) he seemed very concerned, and offered to resolve the situation any way that he could.

He agreed that under no circumstances should a customer have been talked to in the manner in which Mr. Madeo deemed it necessary to talk to me.

There are cameras all over that bank I'm sure. Anyone with two eyes could view the footage from Friday afternoon, 4pm, and conclude from just body language alone that what transpired is exactly how I have conveyed it, no more, no less.

Everyone else in the bank was polite, though I did not complete any transaction that day, the teller and the banker were only doing their jobs, and they remained professional.

Good afternoon Ms. Jane Elissa Meyers. I will respond to your comment even though you were not there to witness Mr. Michael Madeo's crude behavior, so you would truly have no idea how I was treated yesterday. Bet nevertheless...

My disappointment has nothing to do with Mr. Madeo's unwillingness to cash Oliver Staffing Services' checks. My disappointment has EVERYTHING to do with the manner in which Michael Madeo conducted himself. You could not possibly know how he talked to me and how he conducted himself with me if you were not there. Which part of the account did I lie about? The part where he yelled at me on the phone? The part where he charged out of his office and came within a yard of me to tell me that I could not "open an account just to close it!!!" The part where he told me that he planned to call his boss before I could to tell him how I came into the branch to open an account with "no money". Which part?

Ms. Meyers, you are absolutely right. I had a lot of time on my hands yesterday after business hours, and today because it's Saturday. So if it bothers you that I took the time to give an account about MY experience with an individual who showed no respect for me as a human being and as a customer then so be it. But clearly he shows YOU respect which is commendable. It also gives credence to what I suspected but did not mention until now: Madeo must be a racist. He has no respect for Black women, but he LOVES you and your friends, and he respects you and your friends, correct? But a Black person walks in to open an account and the immediate response is "YOU CANNOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT HERE JUST TO CLOSE IT!!!"

So THANK YOU Ms. Meyers for putting something into perspective for me, something that I considered in the back of my mind but neglected to mention because I didn't want to pull the race card.

But you *** near did it on my behalf.

Good day!

Fortunately, I have been a client of Mr. Madeo and Sterling National Bank for the past five years, nothing in this article can be further from the truth!!!!

Michael has a very friendly and professional demeanor, he has been so helpful not only to me in handing both my business and personal accounts, but to many of the other clients that I have referred to him over the years. Mr. Madeo always will go out of his way to help me, many times coming to my office after hours when I cannot get to the bank, and even calling me when I had been sick to see if he can bring me anything!!! I would definately refer Michael and Sterling National Bank as their services are superior to other banks that I have been with over the years, I always look forward to visiting the bank and seeing Michael and his staff, it is such a warm and friendly enviornment.

I wouldn't trust my business to anyone else, and if Michael left the bank I would follow him (even though I love Sterling!!!). Obviously, this person was upset that he could not perfom a transaction, so they decided that they would cause trouble for him. How sad that is that people can be so mean and write such lies!!, it is appareant that this person has nothing else to do with their time. If you went into the branch and met Mr.

Madeo, you would definately know what I mean.

He is a professional through and through. I know for a fact he has been in the Banking business for over 20 years, and for good reason!!!!!
